We’re not in the business of data collection.
However, the whole internet is in this business with the consequence that the transmission of information over the internet can never be entirely secure and is done at your own risk. While BEAUTYCALYPSE is all pro data souvereinity and awareness, we, too, need to rely on other service providers in order to make this website happen, to allow for sharing of our content on social media and for feedback (aka the contact form). In the following, we explain what we use and how these services use your data – without too much legalese. We’re also doing our best to stay up to date with our privacy policy.

This privacy policy applies between you, the visitor/ user/ reader of this website, and BEAUTYCALYPSE.com – it applies to any and all data provided by you or collected by us in relation to us creating and you using this website.

How this website works:
The backend by Automattic (aka WordPress) does collect visitor (aka user, aka reader) data for the evaluation of the audience which includes placing and accessing certain Cookies on your computer, providing us with – anonymous – insights into our readers’ country of origin, so we can understand how popular our articles are and what our audience is most interested in. They also provide the contact form functionality: when you’re using our contact form, the data is transmitted to us by Automattic. We never sell your data and we only keep your data for as long as it may be needed in order to reply to your comment and only for the duration of our communications. When companies, agencies and individuals reach out in order to pitch a collaboration idea, the data are processed in accordance with the governing law: saved to an address book and the communications may be archived or forwarded in order to work on said collaboration; we will always ask your permission before sharing your data with anybody else (but this is just good manners anyway). Finally, Automattic provide the “post alert” aka “Follow this blog with WordPress” functionality which is not the same as a newsletter but is equally based on a double opt-in when used with an email address. We can check the numbers and the emails of the email followers but we don’t actively save or keep them ourselves (and of course we never pass them on or sell them).
What data is collected to make this website work:
The data provided by you via the contact forms, our email address or our giveaway forms can include your name, your contact information, and the data collected by Automattic via Cookies can include your IP address, your web browser and OS information as well as your surfing behaviour (visiting time, frequency, and so on) which helps improve the website. We usually don’t share your data, unless in order to finalise a readers giveaway and contact the winner or, if deemed necessary by us, for our legitimate interests that may include and are not limited to obtaining legal, technical, or business advice.
You may find the complete Automattic privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy-notice/ and more info on Automattic data collection here: https://automattic.com/automattic-and-the-general-data-protection-regulation-gdpr/
