Love Sacred, Love Bottled…

“The body is an instrument which only gives off music when it is used as a body.
Always an orchestra, and just as music traverses walls,
so sensuality traverses the body and reaches up to ecstasy.”

― Anais Nin

Love Sacred, Love Bottled:

Review of Parfum No 2, Pauline R.

If I were not writing about all things fabulous about an ethical and eco lifestyle, I would be writing about niche perfume. Fine, rare, masterful fragrances; the most outstanding “noses”; notes and molecules. However, with green perfume brands like AER or Abel, I get to sometimes write about fabulous niche perfumes that are natural as well.

Pauline R (R for Rochas, yes, that same Rochas, find out more in this BEAUTYCALYPSE interview) Seven Collection is not a green range in the proper meaning. Yet it is based on a holistic and aromatherapeutic concept.

THE ENERGY OF SCENT IS DIFFERENT FROM ALL THE OTHER SENSES. OLFACTORY SENSATIONS TRANSMUTE TIME AND SPACE.

All seven juices are blended using notes associated with the respective chakras — I’m positive that you’re familiar with this ancient energy system idea — and designed to be your fragrant amulets or companions, wherever life takes you. Pauline suggests the fragrances strengthen the respective chakras: Nr 1 (root chakra) grounds you; Nr 3 (energy) fuels you up; Nr 6 (third eye) powers up your intuition. A fragrant energy GPS.

SERENDIPITY STRIKES: “FRAGRANT GPS, I’M FEELIN’ LUCKY!”

When I was to choose a perfume for my review, I chose Nr 5 for a current creative endeavour of mine. The fifth chakra is believed to strengthen our communication skills, our voice, and that’s exactly what I thought I needed. Said creative endeavour is about writing a novel, and when I write, I love to have some fragrant accompaniment. Together with instrumental music, it helps me focus all my senses on writing (which is essential for good writing; like good singing, it does come from your body as much as it comes from your mind). However, when the sample was sent out, a mistake occurred, and Nr 2 arrived instead — the second, sacral chakra’s friend: designed to deepen your sensuality and to drive you closer towards what you desire. Oh well…

THOUGHTS VERSUS DESIRES. PLACE YOUR BET WHO WINS.

The funny thing is that within the chakra system, the fifth and the second chakras are very much connected. Both spark our ability to express ourselves, albeit in different ways. The second chakra, or Svadisthana in Sanskrit, is also about giving birth, in any way possible: physical or creative. So there I was. I thought how funny it was for Queen Serendipity to choose for me. And I went for it.

THE SACRAL SECRET OF: THE CARNAL MEETS THE CEREBRAL.

Review of Parfum No 2, Pauline R Seven Collection (relaunched)Parfum Nr 2 is the sleekest of the collection; formulated sans the traditional “pyramid”. Thus, the opening and the drydown are very similar; naturally the former is sweeter and more floral while the latter is a wood-frankincense harmony.

With Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood and Labdanum Nr 2 has both carnal and spiritual notions.

Parfum Nr 2 has the strongest sillage I have ever witnessed with a perfume — it permeates fabric, hair and skin much to the delight of the wearer and to the chagrin of the unbeliever.

Ingredients: Alcohol Denat., Parfum (Fragrance), Aqua (Water), Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Cinnamate, Benzyl Salicylate, Citral, Eugenol, Farnesol, Geraniol, Isoeugenol, Limonene, Linalool. The bottle reviewed is a press sample; the review is completely independent.

INSPIRATION: THE ARTIST NEEDS TO ALIGN WITH HER SENSES FIRST.

Pauline shared a couple stories of customers who have found love thanks to this mysterious juice. I have certainly found inspiration. The scent gives me a feeling of safety and joy, and sparks inspirations even on days that are either grey and dull or hard and tedious, or both.

The streamlined formula is pure and rich at the same time, much like the carnelian necklace and the kimono I like to wear at home: simple and quite exquisite.
