2018 marks the 10th anniversary for Rahua, the hair care brand that sets the bar high for organic and natural products. BEAUTYCALYPSE was able to test the new HYDRATION range, and here’s the in-depth review.

NEW: Rahua Hydration
BEAUTYCALYPSE Range Review

I know what you think:
“Rahua is on the expensive end of the spectrum, so of course press and bloggers love it for the duration of the review — who doesn’t love free stuff?”

Not to fast, my friend.

First, Rahua was not love at first sight for me.
Did I understand the mission (saving the pristine Equadorian rainforest through fair business and sustainable practices)? Yes. Did I like the first products, the original and the volume shampoo? Unfortunately not — although I’m aware they have raving fans, and are actually really good products. But for me and back then the original and the volume shampoos were not outstanding in terms of product efficiency. Sustainability alone is just not enough to check off “ethical excellence”.

But Rahua was also a brand I wanted to love for all the ethical reasons.

Yet it wasn’t until the launch of their Body range, products that are, for me, worth all the money and are on constant repurchase in la casa BEAUTYCALYPSE, that I started to genuinely appreciate their work. The Body range rocks, period.
Next, the Color Full range for coloured hair (launched last year) was the first shampoo-conditioner-mask combo by Rahua that I actually loved and repurchased. Even though my hair is not colour-treated, I felt the products helped reduce the undesired summery brassiness and also boost the shine. The Enchanted Island Salt Spray was another stunner — and, finally, made my falling in love with Rahua spiral into utter adoration.

I was also very impressed with Rahua launching their signature Symbiotic® standard for ingredients.
To be classified as Symbiotic®, an ingredient must be rainforest-grown (wild, not cultured) in a virgin forest; must be harvested and processed in a traditional way by people indigenous to the environment. Lastly, the price for the ingredient must allow for the maintainance of traditional harvesting and processing methods and establish truly fair business partnerships.
While the standard is open for other companies, companies or brands that engage in conflicting practices are denied the standard to avoid potential greenwashing.

With HYDRATION, Rahua have launched their best shampoo so far. Heck. They might have launched the best shampoo I ever tried!

I’ve been testing the press sample full size duo for 10 weeks now.
Both bottles are still not emptied.

Now let’s look at the ingredients and the products.

Bottom Line – Hydration Review

The hydration effect I was able to achieve in the weeks of testing was not dramatic in terms of shine: my hair is healthy and naturally shiny. However, I do see that it’s now even glossier than ever. The best effect though is the reduction of scalp dryness that hard water imparts. This was reduced quite noticeably.

HYDRATION has the most “conventional” scent so far, smelling of mangos and passion fruit. “Weird” smell is something I hear a lot from people switching to natural cosmetics, and with HYDRATION, everyone is sure to completely fall in love with the exotic and entirely natural smell.

Overall, hair washed and conditioned with HYDRATION products feels soft and manageable, and yet is easy to style, even with no styling products at hand, my otherwise stubborn tresses will maintain those random waves for days.

TL;DR REVIEW:
HIGHLY RECOMMEND. A NEW BEAUTYCALYPSE STAPLE.
