Winter Signature Beauty Look
BACK TO MATT
With all the holiday glitter gone, and winter still in its prime, I have rediscovered my love for matt textures.
Visually, the beauty winter season 2018 has been all about all kinds of highlighting. From the otherwordly Instagram creatures to beauty vloggers glowing to the degree of greasy-looking skin. Beauty brands from “conventional” to green incessantly create new and better highlighters in all shades of glow: silver white, pink, violet, yellow gold, copper, bronze and more. It’s delightful and gorgeous.
But my eyes want a break.
The new matt is definitely neither parchment-like nor colourless.
Also, I start with dewy-finish skincare and shimmery, luminous products – blotting and some finishing powder then complete the look, adding a transparent matt layer that somehow feels adequately wintery to me.
To keep my eyes and brows in a wintry contrast to my pale skin, I choose a deep blackberry mascara, a golden-black eye pencil (to gently tightline) and some brow pomade for definition. Plus a pop of slightly rosy cheek colour over a warm foundation, just to keep the complexion from looking dull.
Lips are primed but bare – shawls and collars would mess with colour anyway.

Skincare Tips for Winter-Dry
or Irritated Skin
In terms of skincare, I still love Lovely Day Skin Rescue for facial massages, and it works beautifully both under make-up and as overnight treatment. This 5-ingredient oil serum (argan oil, evening star oil, blue tansy, vitamin E and limonene) calms and balances irritated, dry and oily skin.
The renewed i+m Fluid Equalize is a new to me product, keeps my skin hydrated on days when we barely hit the zero degree benchmark – winter weather’s been mild and dull so far in Berlin.
I need this double shot of calming power for my skin irritated by a ten day long antibiotics cure that unfortunately had to be prescribed to me over the holidays, and I can only say: both products do darn well.
Throw in these three skin-soothing favourites for good measure, because I still rely on all of them.
Both products are 100% vegan and natural; all i+m products are also certified organic with the BDIH/COSMOS standard.
