Have you ever tried this rejuvenating, anti-inflammatory super oil in your skincare routine? Cucumber Seed Oil has many benefits for skin and hair, whether on its own or in a product formula.
Ingredient Alchemy Lab:
Cucumber Seed Oil
This precious oil was a bit of a late discovery for me, even though there is probably no vegetable as ubiquitous and popular as cucumber. Cucumbers are packed with nutrients and particularly refreshing during hot summer months, which makes cucumber water a favourite.
Cucumber seed oil is cold pressed from dried cucumber seeds. The oil is bright yellow to dark yellow, with a disctinct scent (close to concentrated melon smell). It has a medium lightweight and absorbs quickly, feeling light on the skin.
The oil contains 14 to 20% of oleic acid, approximately 60% of omega-3-linoleic acid, stearic acid, palmitic acid, folic acid. Further it’s rich in potassium, silicon (remember: this is not the synthetic compound called silicone), cucurbitacins, sulphur, magnesium, calcium, phosphorous, zinc, iron and Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, and C.
This particular combination of natural compounds makes cucumber seed oil a powerful rejuvenating, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, hydrating, nourishing, regenerative and soothing oil. It can help soothe acne and sunburn, dry skin and eczema. Massages with cucumber seed oil help even out skin texure and promote healing. Undereye puffiness and dark circles can be treated with cucumber seed oil as well.
We have two favorites in la casa beautycalypse: one is the organic cucumber seed oil and another is a soothing and cooling aloe gel infused with cucumber seed. Let’s have a look.

This review will be brief but raving 😉
It’s a pure oil that you can use on its own or infuse skincare products with. The intense, melon-like smell evaporates rather quickly and leaves skin soft, smooth, hydrated.
When I apply it overnight, I wake up with a skin that looks and feels firmer, more supple, more toned. Gently tapping your fingertips (just so dipped in cucumber seed oil) around your eye contour reduces puffiness and softens fine lines – I can’t tell whether or not the oil can truly lighten up dark undereye circles all on its own, but I have the impression that it makes the gentle undereye skin a little less fragile.
The oil is great for massages. If you have fresh stretch marks or scars, the synergetic power of cucumber seed oil’s healing and nourishing properties combined with a gentle massage can help promote regeneration.
Another great way to use cucumber seed oil is carrier oil: use it as a base for your DIY concoctions for skin, scalp or hair treatments. For hair growth treatments, consider blending it with broccoli seed oil, argan oil, and some castor oil (+/- essential oils for your skin type or mood).

Attentive readers may have spotted the Aloe Vera Gel Cucumber Seed Oil in a recomMENdations article.
Soothing, hydrating, invigorating, with its ultra-light texture and the sophisticated fresh, herbal-woody scent, the gel is ideal for men – and a multitasker, too. Moisturiser, after shave, après-sun. The gel absorbs quickly and promotes healing (sunburn, acne, razor burn), so what’s not to love?
Of course the product itself is perfectly unisex, but because I hear men beef about “sticky” or “oily” or “flowery” textures and smells, I like to highlight products that check all the good boxes for guys out there first. Doesn’t mean us ladies can’t have the gorgeous smelling multitasker for ourselves. One thing to notice though: like many gel textures, the product can peel off your skin as you start applying makeup – so make sure to test its behaviour with your go-to decorative cosmetics in advance and not on a hectic Monday morning. My trick is to blend in a drop of an oil serum, but maybe the gel will work like a charm with your makeup.
