Rahua COLOR FULL | Range Review #14

This in-depth, ingredient-check review is a must for all RAHUA fans with colour-treated hair. Does Color Full live up to the expectation of colour protection?

Rahua Color Full
Range Review

With the shampoo selling at 43€, conditioner at 46€, and hair mask at 70€, the Color Full range is slightly more expensive than the products of the Original and Voluminous collections. Vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, gluten and grain free, free from parabens and sulfates, the 100% organic/ plant-derived formulations certainly check off all ethical luxury boxes. Protective and nourishing, the botanical formulations come with the promise of protecting hair and hair colour – but are also said to be beneficial for colour-untreated, natural hair.

With great lengths
comes great responsibility

The signature Geranium-Lavender scent of the Color Full collection is mirrored by the signature pale purple colour which is also designed to reduce “brassiness”; this was probably the feature I was most interested in.

The pH value is between 5-6 (shampoo) and between 4-5 (conditioner).

You see, my hair is about 40 cm long, and hasn’t seen any hair dye since 2012 (or longer? I don’t really remember) but its silky, neutral to ashy natural shade is prone to turning coppery and lackluster after normal, city life sun exposure – before fading into sandy blonde streaks in high summer. Naturally, over winter months, it’s turning more red than sandy, and not in the pretty way. This was my personal challenge for the Color Full range, and if you want to know what I think of it, keep reading.

+ Excellent cleansing properties
+ Adequately thick, no-spill texture that’s economical in use
o I don’t like it when eponymous ingredients are at the end of an ingredient list, but it’s understandable that a powerful oil can’t be the key ingredient in a shampoo formula, so this is not a PRO or CON, simply a statement

+ Heavenly smell!

Rahua Color Full Hair Mask Review

+ Again: a clean, tox-free, vegan, gluten-free and natural, gentle formulation

+ Hair is soft, glossy and bouncy – no heaviness!
+ Economical in use
o The same air-tight packaging that I know from the Rahua body lotion seems not so ideal for the very thick, hair mask texture that reminds of a dough-like clay mask – it actualy takes quite some pushing to get out a decent amount of mask; wet fingers are a disadvantage.

Bottom Line – Color Full Review

Disclaimer-ish statement, let’s not forget: I’ve only been using the range for a few weeks on natural and uncoloured hair, so a before and after wouldn’t be overly dramatic. But there is an effect. I can’t tell if it’s the shampoo, the conditioner, the mask or the combination of all three, but I see a bit of a positive, colour-balancing effect on my hair lengths and tips.

The too brassy and too matte look (as well as that “strawy”, rough feel that you can’t really avoid at a certain length) of my hair ends was starting to bother me; and even though my hair is not super prone to breakage or split ends, it’s just neither the look nor the colour I want. Dyeing my hair is not an option in the moment, and it’s not before grey hair strikes that I will reach for the paint pot again. That’s why a colour balancing shampoo and hair treatment seems heaven-sent. In the moment, I’m enjoying the Color Full range and I am very interested in seeing some mid-term and long-term effect.

So what do you think, would you like to see a 1 month-in before and after? 😉

Note that Rahua Color Full is available in Germany starting May 2017.

  2. Definitely! While chatting with you about the collection (thanks for pointing out how to pronounce Rahua) I was sure that your hair must look great. I would love to see how it changed after a month.

I use the normal and from time to time the volume shampoo and conditioner. After my long testing period last year I was sure that there is no green hair care for my bleached, long, beach hair. I can tell you stories. Anyhow even in weeks training like hell, showering three times a day and washing my hair daily Rahua is doing very well. It does not matter if I was swimming in the ocean for hours or inside. My hair felt lovely and looks quite ok. The only issue is the yellowish tone from the chlorine I think,… so that’s why, as soon as everything is empty I will try this collection.

    • I have already written a note to myself: a 10 weeks later review end of May 🙂 Your hair sure has to endure a lot of just mechanical damage, I think in particular the Hair Mask would be fabulous for you. I like the Conditioner. It’s my brush in a bottle! 😀
