Drugstore Finds: A Lightweight Firmness Serum

When I travel, I travel light, always ready for serendipitous, surprise discoveries at local shops and drugstores. Like this NaTrue-certified gem.

A name Mark Twain would’ve loved (to poke fun at)

Going under the lengthy German name of “Anti-Aging Straffungs-Kur Kiwi Traube” (Anti Aging Firming Treatment Kiwi Grape) this 10 ml ampoule (€4.95) by Alverde was a big surprise sitting in a Salzburg dm drugstore.alverde-firming-treatment-ampouleAlverde is dm drugstore market home brand, so Yes (or No, depending on what you were thinkng), technically this is not a very suprising nor exotic discovery: I haven’t stumbled upon any local brand or otherwise unavailable product here; and yes, I could have found it in a Berlin dm as well.

But I suppose I wasn’t facing this exact problem of unpleasant dryness that no oil could soothe…

Certified NaTrue, this vegan, palm-oil-free liquid goodness has helped me, the “travel light” adept, support my skin in the unequal battle against the aircon.travel-beauty-bag{Here’s the proof of my packing light: rms concealer, Everyday Minerals jojoba foundation, The 7 Virtues Noble Rose fragrance, and a magic potion, travel sized, by Tata Harper}
You see, I had forgotten to pack any aircon cure.
Such a rookie mistake. Really, what was I thinking?

Review, declaration and bottom line

The serum is a transparent, subtly scented liquid; one ampoule makes for 3-4 suuuuuper-generous applications.alverde-firming-treatment-reviewedAfter the application the skin remains a little sticky, but also feels and looks pampered, hydrated, and dewy-fresh. Roundabout lovely.

Full declaration:
Vitis Vinifera Fruit Water*, Aqua, Actinidia Chinensis Fruit Water, Glycerin, Alcohol*, Hydrolyzed Hibiscus Esculentus Extract, Citrus Aurantium Amara Flower Extract, Dextrin, Xanthan Gum, Phytic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Lavendula Angustifolia Oil*, p-Anisic Acid**, Levulinic Acid**, Sodium Levulinate**, Linalool**, Geraniol**, Limonene**, Citral**
*ingredients from certified organic agriculture
**from natural essential oils

While I think that the formula is a tad overcharged (glycerin isn’t a favourite ingredient, for example) and also not 100% safe for allergy sufferers, it could easily become my new In-Flight Favourite to keep my skin nice, firm, and hydrated in that most Skin Hostile Environment, if only for the hydrating grape water included.”

By the way, this post made me think of a “dirty trick” I use when travelling.
Basically whenever my face and hands are clean and nobody’s watching…

It’s face massage.

And a whole new story 😉
